2nd RPD Digital Networking Event

27th of June 2025 | 13:00 - 16:00 CEST (Brussles) | Language: English | Zoom

On the 27th of June 2025, 21 participants attended the 2nd Digital RPD-Networking Event under the theme “What’s New in Learning Mobility? Let’s Talk About Quality and Value-Based Learning” The event was organised by the coordination office of Research and Practice in Dialogue – International Youth Work (RPD), and members of the European Platform on Learning Mobility (EPLM). The goals were to:

  • share recent updates on the Handbook on Quality in Learning Mobility (2nd Edition, published in 2024),
  • explore the role and practical application of value-based learning in mobility projects, and
  • foster dialogue and reflection among international youth work practitioners on quality and values in learning mobility.

After a brief overview over the two inviting institutions with a particular focus on the EPLM, the first part of the event focused on the topic of “Quality in Learning Mobility”. Susie Nicodemi described how quality became an important topic on the European level up until the now updated “Handbook on Quality in Learning mobility”. The handbook and the accompanying Q!App were presented as practical tools and Marta Brzezińska-Hubert in her role as Q-Ambassador gave some practical examples on how to apply the tool in learning mobility projects. As an example of national adaption IJAB e.V. from Germany also briefly presented their own IJAB-Quality Handbook, available in German and English. Afterwards a discussion followed the leading questions:

  • How much quality is there in learning mobility these days?
  • How can these tools help enhance quality? How can you use them?

After a short break, the focus shifted to value-based learning in mobility projects, inspired by the T-Kit on Value-Based Learning, issued by the Youth Partnership. Snežana Bačlija Knoch started the session with a reflective exercise on what participants associate with value-based learning. This was followed by an input on the topic and a discussion, underlining that value-based education is not neutral and that promoting certain values in youth work is both important and necessary. The following questions were discussed by the participants:

  • What is the role of value-based learning in today’s world?
  • To which extent is the value-based approach already integrated in learning mobility/youth work?
  • What needs to happen to ensure value-based learning in strategies, policies, research and practice?

The event concluded with an outlook on the future of the EPLM and the RPD network.
