Goals: Building on the positive feedback of the past networking events, two additional Digital Networking Events will be implemented in 2024. For the first time, the networking event will be conducted in English.

Through the gained insights and research ideas of the participants through networking events, Research and Practice in Dialogue - International Youth Work (RPD) is able to develop its projects.

Our goals regarding the Digital Networking Event are to:

  • facilitate the interdisciplinary and international exchange between academia and practice in the field of International Youth Work,
  • discuss the key findings of the project “International Narratives and International Rationales for International Youth Work”,
  • enable an exchange of perspectives among the professionals from different countries.

Topic: In Germany, International Youth Work is legally and structurally established. However, the data regarding the causal impact of International Youth Work remains sparse. Having an international discourse with professionals of different countries offers the opportunity to gain insights about how International Youth Work is socially and structurally embedded and discussed. It can further point out assumptions and blind spots regarding underlying rationales and structures in each country and raise the level of reflection and quality for international cooperation in our field. In this manner we are looking at the value that is attributed to International Youth Work and education by professionals in different countries. The two year small scale research project "International Narratives and Rationales in International Youth Work" in cooperation with Dr. Benjamin Bunk (Justus Liebig University Gießen) pursues the following questions:

  • How is international youthwork structurally established in different countries?
  • What biographical decisions and motivations have led to activity in the field of International Youth York?
  • Which importance is attributed to the field of International Youth Work by society as a whole?

The networking event will address the mentioned questions by looking at the samples Poland, Portugal, Tanzania, Turkey and USA. We also want to reflect on individual perspectives, perceptions, and blind spots in international exchange. All interested actors from the field of International Youth Work and related fields are invited.

The participation is free of charge. Please register the registration form below so that we can send you a participation link to the Zoom-meeting in a timely manner.

We look forward to an exciting exchange of views and opinions!
